All welding and manufacturing to comply to welding and design specifications

Ensure all Plant Machinery (Baler Machines) are repaired and restored in a timeous manner

RESPONSIBILITES RELATING TO  KEY PERFORMANCE AREA

• To manufacture items from drawings, instructions or by measurement of required work will comply to the requirements,
• To repair all structural, equipment or vehicle parts that are required to be welded to the standard that the repaired items are functionally and operationally compliant.
• All welding, grinding, cutting, shaping, marking out, plate developing, pipe developing and steel manipulation of required items,
• All welding work to be structurally sound so there are no failures due to poor welding on vehicles, trailers to ensure safe operation of said vehicles.
• Responsible for preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks on plant machinery, equipment, vehicles and other materials.
• To inspect all sections of plant under you control daily, to access the condition thereof and effect necessary repairs or maintenance
• To manufacture, repair equipment as identified through improvement projects, tags, SMAT’s, etc.
• Daily reporting of problems that happened on shift and filling in of required paperwork.
• To identify improvements in the process that could be made by modifying or replacement of plant and to bring such information to the attention of management
• To inform plant management of all situations or conditions that could result in downtime and to take all such remedial action as is necessary to minimize downtime as a result thereof
• Be able to read drawings and manufacture equipment from drawings
• Troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment and ensure maximum equipment efficiency, effectiveness and reliability.

Administration

• Responsible for the correct and timeous submission of all Job Cards,

ADHOC

• §  Any other reasonable adhoc duty as required or requested by management.
• §  It should be noted that individuals may need to expand their roles / scope to cover the work load of other employees in times of high work loads or individuals whom may be absent from work. This is the sole discretion of management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Grade 12 certificate or equivalent

-

Relevant Trade test

-

3 years’ experience as a qualified boilermaker

-

Code 8 Drivers License with own transport

-

Physically able to work in a dusty, noisy environment and able to manually manipulate the equipment, steel and tools required on the job

-

Must be able to work on ladders and get onto and off equipment to places where the individuals needs to weld

-

Able to convert verbal design information into developed work

NATURE OF THE WORK TASKS

-

Boilermakers perform physically demanding and dangerous work. They often work outdoors in all types of weather, including extreme heat and cold.

-

Because bins, boilers, storage tanks, vehicles and pressure vessels are large, boilermakers frequently work at great heights.

-

Boilermakers also work in cramped quarters (E.g.) inside boilers, vats, or tanks that are often dark, damp, noisy, and poorly ventilated.
