SUMMARY:
Help people understand and manage their mental, emotional, and behavioral problems by assisting them in identifying their strengths and available resource to help them.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Tasks/Activities

Assess mental, emotional, and behavioural problems

  • Administer psychological and neuropsychological assessments

  • Conduct clinical interviews

  • Score and interpret assessment results

  • Compile medico-legal reports

  • Identify and diagnose serious psychological problems caused by accidents/incidents and provide referral services to outside therapists, clinics, and treatment facilities

Promote Mental Wellness

  • Help patients better understand and cope with their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours

  • Provide crisis intervention as needed in the following areas:

    • Financial stress

    • Trauma (Death etc)

    • Domestic Violence

    • Suicide

 

Perform administrative duties

  • Improve areas identified by the QA team

  • Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner

  • Coordinate and communicate with case managers and other stakeholders about treatment and care

 Other requirements

  • Work within professional code as regulated by the HPCSA

  • Working with patients who suffer from mental and behaviour disorders

Essential Qualifications

  • Masters in Psychology

  • Registered with HPCSA

Essential Experience

  • Familiar with crisis assessment tools and techniques
