Property Bookkeeper (Property Industry), Stellenbosch (Cape Town)

POSITION INFO:

Our client, a property market Leader in South Africa, are currently looking for a Bookkeeper, who can start as soon as possible, or immediately at their offices in Stellenbosch. Preferably someone who has worked in a similar position, within a Property company, or within the property industry, that understands the MDA Property System.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

This person will focus on VAT and Billing for tenants in their specific portfolio

 

Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • At least 2+ year’s solid bookkeeping experience
  • Bookkeeping course advantageous
  • Demonstrates an ability to work independently on most tasks
  • Focus on the finer detail of tracking and managing finance
  • Computer Literate on MDA Property
  • Adheres to daily/ weekly / monthly schedule
  • Completes to trial balance and prepare management accounts

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Debtors:

-        Capture recoveries from leases for new tenants 

-        Prepare monthly billing for tenants on recovery sheets and capture on MDA

-        Issue monthly statements / invoices and make sure these are signed off before sending to the tenants

-        Follow up on unpaid rentals and request LOD’s

-        Liaise with tenants on account related matters

  • Creditors:

-        Complete credit application for new creditors

-        Ensure all creditor invoices and statements are received, captured and paid on time

-        Liaise with suppliers on account related matters, outstanding invoices, statements etc.

-        Ensure all invoices comply with VAT requirements of a valid ‘tax invoice’

-        Complete creditors reconciliations (attach all necessary documentation)

-        Ensure all repairs and maintenance costs are allocated accordingly and has been recovered from tenants where indicated by RM’s

  • Cashbooks:

-        Update cash flow sheet – daily & monthly

-        Capture receipts and payments - daily

-        Reconcile to bank statement – daily

  • Petty Cash:

-        Reconciling of petty cash to accounting system balance

-        Capture petty cash transactions

  • VAT:

-        Prepare VAT calculations and submit signed off VAT returns

-        Reconcile VAT differences

-        Ensure VAT payment is made on time

  • Financial Reporting:

-        Analyse income statement accounts every month and be able to explain variances (1st review)

-        Preparation of Finance Monthly Manco Pack

-        Preparation of audit folders

-        All month-end processes

  • Other:

-        Filing and scanning of working documents

Compile FICA documents (when requested
