Rneg

Provider of engineering, scheduled maintenance services, technical resources and turnkey engineering projects  for the South African Nuclear Power Industry seeks a SHEQ manager to be in charge of the health, safety, environment, and quality assurance side of the business, He/ She supervises and coordinates work systems to ensure that the products or services of the company meet the highest quality standards and that the Welfare and working conditions of the company are favourable and safe.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Ensure compliance to the procedures;
  • Drive continuous improvement;
  • Ensure Integration of EPC role players and support the Project Manager/Project;
  • Determines the strategic direction and work priorities (in conjunction with line management) for the continuous improvement of the Sites SHEQ management programme and systems.
  • Advise Project management and assists with the implementation of new and existing SHEQ-related legislation, rules and Company standards to include prevention, health and safety awareness training, site inspections of Company and contractors;
  • Ensuring that project process control procedures are adhered to;
  • Overseeing resource forecasting processes and ensuring that the appropriate resources are available as per agreed project plans;
  • To complete prevention inspections and internal audits of the IMS systems on a regular basis and ensure records maintained of same;
  • To investigate accidents/incidents, liaise with interested parties and ensure all documentation is updated;
  • To develop a monthly SHEQ Communication Strategy for all contractors and levels of staff, to include written information, tool box talks and management briefs;
  • Conducts occupational health and safety related surveys e.g. noise, lighting, exposure to chemical substances and makes associated recommendations;
  • Monitors the Site “permit-to-work” system to ensure compliance with Company standards;
  • Provide continuous management and support to all projects.
  • Collaborating with the Project Managers, Construction Leaders to implement, manage and maintaining cohesive organizational strategies and relationships with support departments.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in Safety Management;
  • Registered as CHSM with SACPCMP;
  • Minimum of 7 years in EPC industry as SHEQ Manager;
  • Able to review designs and read drawings;
  • Experience in SHEQ RCA methodologies will be advantageous.
  • Track record of leading project teams successfully.

  • Thorough knowledge of departmental processes.
  • Good understanding of project management principles – PMBOK, Contract management & Planning.
  • Construction knowledge – technical, H&S, etc.

  • Computer Systems (IFS, Primavera, MS Projects, Project Management Collaboration Platforms)
