Project Manager - OEM

SUMMARY:
To manage internal & external projects in line with Company business objectives.

POSITION INFO:

Project Management:

• To analyse and understand customer specification and technical data for project costing purposes.
• Identify opportunities for improvement with internal external customers and propose alternatives solutions.
• To ensure projects are managed in line with customer deliverables.
• To create & communicate project plans as well as incorporate relevant external supplier timing plans into master project plans in line with customer requirements.
• To liaise with customer and supplier as well as internal department to ensure projects are coordinated to meet customer timelines.
• To set up and manager BOMS on all new projects for projects costing /material planning purposes.
• To keep control documentation relating directly to project launches and issues project documentation to other internal departments as and when required.
• To maintain projects in accordance with company’s quality system.
• To communicate internal project deliverables by means of internal project meetings
• To stop/delay any project in consultation with commercial/Sales Manager and customer should discrepancies exist which could affect projects feasibility.
• To ensure projects are delivered to plant in line with allocated budget.
• To support RFQ process with change management of existing business as well as for new projects.
• To assist and support quality department on all process and quality documentation relevant to new projects.
• To ensure customer requirement are communicated to qualify department.
• Participate in project feasibility studies establish the viability of proposed projects.

Technical:

• To be able to use CAD software to support RFQ process and to study project feasibility.
• Conduct research & development of new/ existing.

Financial Management:

• Monitor project performance against budget (expense controls, variances, etc.).
• Initiate requests for CAPEX/Disposal/ Transfers.
• Participate in the Audit process.
• Adhere to financial Policies and Procedures.
• Project company assets (working capital & fixes assets).
• Detect and prevent fraud.
• Promote good Corporate governance.

Customer and Suplliers:

• Maintain and improve relationship with internal / external customer.
• Conduct customer visits to establish project status and identify outstanding issues /problem.
• Maintain and improve relationship with key suppliers.
• Identify opportunities for improvement with key suppliers.
• Challenge and manage external suppliers to deliver projects in line with master project plan time line.
• Attend to and resolve all customer queries.

Continuous Improvement:

• Champion for the Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) within the plant, ensure a CIP team is active with the plant.
• Ensure projects are monitored against deliverable agreed by the CIP team.
• Ensure CIP log is maintained.
• Provide monthly report of achieved progress vs. target in CIP for management pack.

Education:

• Degree/Diploma in Engineering or similar discipline
• Recognised Degree/Diploma in Project Management or similar Project Management qualification

Experiential:

• 3 years’ experience in similar role
• Must come from Automotive background
• CAD Software
• RFQ process; APQP &PPAP
• ISO Standard
• IATF 16949
• Risk Assessments

Knowledge:

• CAD Software.
• RFQ Process.
• Relevant SA Legislation.
• Risk assessment techniques.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the integrity of measurement and Control Philosophy of a process.
• Explain and apply technical and quality control procedures.
• Demonstrate an understanding of APQP and PPAP.
• IATF 16949 and ISO standard
