JOB DESCRIPTION:

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of this post is to plan, implement, provide and manage comprehensive Primary Health Care, HIV\AIDS preventative, care and support, and COVID-19 management to all students of the Nelson Mandela University in accordance with the SA Nursing Act, and all other related legislation

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Provide comprehensive, quality Primary Health Care (PHC) and management of medical emergency services to all students of the NMU

• Provide comprehensive, quality HIV\AIDS preventative, curative, care and support services to all students of the NMMU

Ensure that all work is performed within the boundaries of all relevant legislation pertaining to clinical and medical administrative activities

• Apply sound management principles pertaining to record keeping, statistics, general orders and overseeing of a particular health program

• Sound knowledge pertaining to Internal and external collaboration focusing on community projects, referral and support services,

• Educational and research related support to students doing projects, internship or practical sessions

• Provide comprehensive COVID-19 19 care to students

CORE COMPETENCIES

Use statements like the following:

• Experience in rendering comprehensive adult primary care to young adults

• Experience in rendering comprehensive HIV/AIDS services to young adults

• A sound knowledge of all relevant legislation, policies and procedures pertaining to PHC,HIV/AIDS and Covid 19 services

• Strong skills pertaining to planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluations of activities such as campaigns, workshops, talks and outreach programs

• Excellent computer skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team

• Knowledge of COVID-19 health and safety protocols

• Experience in COVID-19 vaccination program support

REQUIREMENTS

In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates preferably should have:

• A degree or diploma in General nursing and Midwifery; Qualifications in community health nursing and adult primary care,

• Certificates in Family planning, sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS HCT/NIMART training, adult primary care

• Dispensing course will be an advantage.

• Candidates must be currently registered with the South African Nursing Council and DENOSA

• A minimum of at least three years’ experience in a primary health care setting is needed.

• A code 8 driver’s license is essential.
