JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position provides direction and oversight to the operations and supply chain of the Plant through the high-performance work systems and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies, systems, and tools to build a high-performance culture of continuous improvement and enhance organizational capability.

Key Relationships:

Internal

• Oversee all functions within the operation ensure the smooth running of various functions ensure department heads are held accountable for daily activities/responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety:

    • Compliance with all EH & S guidelines and procedures.

     

    Key Tasks - But Not Limited To

    • Oversee plant operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, customer satisfaction and cost-effective management of resources.
    • Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations.
    • Oversee the Mill and Packing Plant and the deliverables, the targets are met as per the performance appraisal.
    • Guide and direct the business and give input with regards to the technical challenges the plant faces and make the recommendations.
    • Ensure the smooth running once a shipment comes in and all paperwork are finalised on time prior shipment.
    • Ability to use appropriate root cause analysis decision tools for decision making, responsible for downtime meticulous and technical minded.
    • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
    • Ensure maintenance schedule are planned to avoid downtime.
    • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time delivery.
    • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
    • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
    • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.
    • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
    • Monthly Management meetings to evaluate the business performance and strive for continual improvement.
    • Ensure high efficiency, excellent quality, and low waste.
    • Ensure optimal production through effective liaison with all other support functions.
    • Analyse and resolve production history to minimize potential risk.
    • Ensure that operating specifications are in place and are achievable (correctly implemented).
    • Ensure implantation and adherence to SHEQ QMS safety, thinking rationally, influencing others, making decisions, setting directions
      staying composed.
    • Establish and ensure/implement safety programs in line with company values and policies.
    • Responsible for day to day management of the business to achieve the budgeted operating profit and working capital targets.
    • Review monthly financial pack to determine progress and status in obtaining objectives and revise plans as necessary in accordance with current conditions to meet the overall objectives.
    • Monthly Management meetings to evaluate the business performance and strive for continual improvement.
    • Establish a work environment conducive to maintaining good employee morale.
    • Conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports and ensure that all managers do the same for their employees.
    • Develop and implement a plan in line with the company objectives and to promote revenue, profitability, and growth.
    • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
    • Share a trusting relationship with the management team, manage and develop plant staff.
    • Collect and analyse data to find places of waste or overtime
    • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.

     

    Other:

    • Perform any other related duties in the interest of the company as instructed.
    • Work according to Integrated (Environmental and Quality) Management System requirements.
    • Work according to Instructions / Procedures as pertaining to his/her operation function as assigned and abide by all legal (laws/by-laws) requirements / Company Policies and Practices

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Meet or exceed all relevant Plant Manager’s KPI’s as per the performance appraisal.
  • Ensure Departmental objectives and deliverables are met.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Educational Qualifications, Mechanical/Electrical Engineer.
  • Minimum of 6 - 8 years managerial experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years cement industry experience.
  • Minimum of 6 - 8 years of project and planning experience.
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation).
  • Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise crucial.
  • Experience in maintenance and repairs, processes are highly preferred.
  • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory.

  • Advanced practical technical knowledge of processes, preventative, running maintenance.
  • Advanced technical problem-solving skills.
  • Technically equipped with knowledge of machinery/equipment.
