Production Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client, within the HVAC and Bio Containment Industry is looking for a Production Manager with previous experience of HVAC / Bio Containment within a medical laboratory environment or similar to join their team. This position will be based in Midrand, Gauteng.

POSITION INFO:

Job Description:

The main purpose of this role will be to plan, organize and control production in an organization to ensure that projects are efficiently on time, within budget and to standard.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and control the daily operations, from the production stage, through to the completion and handover of the project to the client, either being the end user or the Projects Manager
• Day to day management of operations on site, mostly at the factory ensuring that the project is brought to a successful completion and meets the required time, budget and quality constraints set by the Projects Manager
• Coordinate employee schedules, ensuring correct usage of available resources in the required work
• Carry out toolbox briefings to the production teams and sub-contractors
• Enforce all workforce policies
• Conduct staff performance review of subordinates
• Maintain and adhere to Project budgets set by the Projects Manager
• Address and report safety concerns in a timely manner
• Track and monitor project progress, adhering to prearranged standards and timelines
• Mediate on-site conflict
• Prepare and submit daily progress reports
• General timekeeping of employees
• Work with senior management in resolving more complex challenges
• Leading, coaching and motivating members of the project team on a positive basis
• Monitor material deliveries to ensure scheduled timelines are met in conjunction with procurement clerk
• Confirm material deliveries corresponds with the order and design specifications
• Develop forms and records to document project activities
• Check materials & equipment prior to shipping, as per B.O.Q and functionality
• Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project in discussion with the Project Manager
• Manage the timeline for each project accurately with appropriate resources
• Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
• Break down of allowable cost, quantity and order date & day of delivery project timeline & issue to procurement to start ordering process
• Issue final Bill of Material / quantities in conjunction with Project Manager
• Plan and execute site preparation by managing both external and internal resources

• Educational Requirements:
• Grade 12

Experience and Skills Required:

• Experience and sound knowledge of project management principles
• Experience in managing projects including risk management and problem solving
• Thorough understanding of project management phases, technique and tools
• Knowledge of general industry terminology e.g., EN 12469, NSF 49, ISO 14644, microbiology etc.
• Minimum of 5 years industry specific experience of HVAC / Bio Containment within medical laboratory environment or similar
• Excellent organizational interaction and Interpersonal skills
• Extensive report-writing skills
• Ability to read, understand and interpret drawings
• Ability to generate, read, understand and implement timelines
• Ability to generate, read, understand production plans
• Ability to generate and/or read BOM from drawings
• Computer literate
• Budget management experience advantageous
• Ability to physically project on the daily task completed if a project will be completed in the projected time frame
• Ability to plan and manage a large installation and technical team.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule (nights and weekends as needed)
• Valid driver’s license and passport
