Production Coordinator (Footwear)

SUMMARY:
Durban based Importer and leading Supplier to the SA fashion retailers is seeking a driven, organised, and passionate Merchandise/Production Coordinator to join their busy, dynamic team.

POSITION INFO:
Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for coordinating orders from confirmation through to delivery.
• Ensuring smooth flow of the supply chain by providing and assisting with accurate and timeous relay of information during each step of the merchandise cycle.
• Assisting the Merchandiser with sending styles / data sheets / tech packs to factories for costings; and following up on price negotiations where required.
• Chasing, checking, and preparing approvals / samples / etc, and submitting to buyers.
• Chasing and preparing fit and PPS samples, and submitting to buyers.
• Chasing for approval comments for approvals and samples and sending clear and accurate comments to factories / suppliers.
• Proactively following up on all orders to ensure critical milestones are met.
• Staying on top of lead times / timelines, ensuring deliveries are on track.
• Chasing up factories / suppliers and building relationships with them.
• Liaising with buyers and assistants and building relationships with them.
• Keeping tracking system and progress reports updated.
• Any other administrative duties in support of Merchandiser(s).

• Tertiary qualification in fashion/retail management or similar would be an advantage.
• Min 2 years’ experience in fashion Imports as a coordinator/assistant merchandiser/junior buyer/similar.
• Experience working and dealing with key SA retailers and buyers.
• A good understanding of merchandise cycles, the supply chain, and dealing with China.
• Ability to work with suppliers and manage the production process, deadlines, and delivery.
• Ability to handle pressure, problem solve and make decisions.
• Excellent admin and organisation skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
• A people’s person who gets on well with colleagues in a team environment.
• Computer literate.
