SUMMARY:
This large manufacturing company requires the expertise of an experienced, qualified Engineer with a strong background in the Automotive Product Development industry. Exceptional computer skills and a thorough understanding of automotive quality systems is essential.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Requirements:
  • Must have a Bachelor Degree in Engineering Technology (BTech (Eng)) or Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc(Eng))/Bachelors of Engineering (BEng): NQF Level 7 minimum.
  • Passion for the automotive industry.
  • Good analytical & problem-solving ability.
  • Essential motor industry knowledge of PPAP and APQP processes
  • Exceptional computer literacy with knowledge of Covisint, GroupSupply, Teamcenter and MDSystems.
    Must have an understanding of Solidworks, CATIA and MS Office.
  • Must have a very good understanding of automotive quality systems (e.g. ISO 9001, VDA 6, ISO TS 16949 and Q1)
  • At least 5 years engineering experience.
  • Good communication skills in English, verbal and in writing.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good technical report writing skills.
  • Coordinate and manage a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that projects are completed in a timeous and cost-effective manner
    Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Interact with customers and potential customers during the initial RFQ phase and throughout the development program of new products. 
  • Manage projects through the use of various customer portals, communicate with all stakeholders and ensure effective project management standards.
  • Follow project management standards to complete all programs on time and within budget.
  • Manage a quality system that follows ISO TS 16949 principles, and complete all related documentation as required by various customer part approval systems.
  • Conduct product development from concept to PSW.
  • Manufacture product development samples.
