SUMMARY:
Process Engineer

POSITION INFO:

• must be automotive industry experience
• Industrial engineering qualification preferred
• In-depth application of lean manufacturing principles.

Purpose of the Job:

• To determine and follow process improvements for all operations with the aim of improving plant KPI’s and reducing cost.

Parrow, Cape Town

Key Performance Areas:

• Support the projects team with new projects industrialization in terms of achieving process, system and product improvements
• Follow and lead process improvements related to new projects and refurbishments of existing projects
• Review and improve system for overall plant data capturing
• Work with process owners to determine Headcount savings
• Lead and/or support improvement activities for scrap reduction
• Conduct Process and machine capability studies
• Create a calendar to continuously conduct step-by step time studies to ensure times per engineers are indicative of what operations can achieve
• Provide input to G8D’s for all internal and external customer complaints
• Validate SOS pre-serial production, ensure continued upkeep during serial production and ensure related trainings are provided to employees
• Plan together with SPPS Team (Continuous improvement) Improvement activities and lead these activities together with cross functional team
• Ensure required documentation is received and signed off prior to production buyoff of projects

Education, Experience, Skills

• At least 3-5 years’ experience in automotive industry in a Tier 1 supplier
• National Higher Diploma or Degree in Industrial, Mechanical Engineering
• Formal training and practical application in computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Software.
• In-depth application of Lean Manufacturing tools. (Elimination of waste, Time Study, Line Balancing, VSM, Kanban, One Piece Flow etc.)
• Working knowledge of process design and layout optimizations
• Industrialization of new projects from process design to serial production advantageous
• Knowledge of customer specific requirements related to industrialization of projects, VW and Toyota experience preferred
• Knowledge of rubber industry advantageous
• Knowledge and application of Problem solving tools e.g. G8D for root cause analysis
• Practical application of Core Tools
