Press Operator

SUMMARY:
Our Client based in Olifantsfontein within the aluminium sector requires a Press Operator to extrude aluminium profiles at the press. A minimum of 2 years experience in the aluminium sector and a valid matric is essential.

POSITION INFO:
Duties and Responsibilities:

• To extrude aluminium profiles at the press that meet customer quality requirements i.e. shape, dimensions, surface and surface quality.
• To ensure that plant-specific objectives are achieved i.e. Safety, Productivity, Scrap, Stop-Dies and Lost Time without jeopardising customer quality requirements.
• To ensure that the correct shape is extruded while still satisfying all other important performance criteria such as productivity, process capability, safety, order completion / stopped dies etc
• Specific targets: Refer to Key Performance indicators set on an annual basis.
• The extrusion parameters must be adhered to as specified on the lot ticket, in order to achieve good quality extruded product. A cold die or billet may also cause die breakage.
• The press alignment is measured on a daily basis to ensure that it does not go off-limits and cause problems such as uneven length etc. Ensure that the discards from both slides are kept as press for measurements to be taken.
• Read instructions on the lot ticket.
• Check the die drawing and die history for special instructions.
• Set the parameters i.e billet temperature and main RAM speed as indicated by the Lot Ticket.
• Select the correct quench medium (Air or Water).
• Confirm the actual die temperature with the die heater operator.

• Valid Matric certificate.
• Minimum of 2- years in extrusion production.
• Ability to learn and apply new tasks.
• Communicate effectively and professionally.
