Precision Agriculture Agronomist

SUMMARY:

An established manufacturer of agrochemicals is seeking the above to drive the Precision Farming strategy within the assigned area by offering technical support to and liaising with relevant stakeholders such as Farmers, Regional Managers and Soil Scientists with the aim to identify opportunities which will grow precision farming in South Africa.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a B Agric. /B.Sc. Agric degree
• Minimum of 5 years’ related work experience in the agricultural industry is essential
• Must possess technical and agrochemical knowledge
• Computer literacy and good communication skills in English and Afrikaans will be required
• Must have a valid driver’s license

 
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing technical and agronomical support and advice.
• Implementing the precision farming strategy in the area.
• Marketing and supporting precision farming in South Africa.
• Overseeing the installation and maintenance of precision farming systems on farms.
• Identifying and placing orders for the various components per farm.
• Providing technical support to the farmers on a regular basis.
• Interacting with key influencers in the industry to promote products and to grow the existing client base.
• Interacting with Regional Managers, Soil Scientists and Agronomists to help implement the strategy.
• Upholding and working according to all internal and external safety guidelines.
• Adhering to all internal control policies of the company.
• Performing ad hoc tasks as delegated by Management.

Salary package, including benefits, are highly negotiable depending on experience gained
