POSITION INFO:

Postilion Developer: BASE24: Online Banking Payments

As a member of the POSTILION and BASE24 Development Team, the person will be responsible for the design, implementation and technical support activities required to maintain an Online Payments environment. The person will be required to work with Developers, Analysts and Consultants to ensure that technical specifications Projects, Work Requests and RTB Bug fixes are developed and implemented successfully.


The person may participate in several projects that streamline processes and add functionality to the Online Payments landscape.

Given the mission critical nature of the Online Payments environment, the person must satisfy the skills requirements listed below:

  • General skills required for t3his position include:
    Knowledge of Payments Architecture
  • Acute problem solving and analytical skills
    Excellent communication skills
  • Multi-disciplinary technology skills (preferably POSTILION or Base24 exposure)
  • Knowledge of IT best practice methodologies
  • High attention to detail.

Exposure to the following is also preferable:

  • Java SE experience
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 -2016, with a good understanding of advanced SQL queries
  • Python
  • Windows O/S experience with VM knowledge
  • Good understanding of Postilion systems and the payments environment.
  • Postilion Realtime and Office SDK experience
  • Asset & Astrex test Tool
  • EMV/RTC processing experience
  • Crypto hardware module experience
  • Visa/Mastercard MIP/VAP test experience
  • Understanding of EFT protocols and message standards: ISO 8583 l 20022
  • PASA Payments Certification
  • Cloud Engineering (AWS & Azure)
  • Gitlab l Chef l Bamboo l Agile l SAFE l Test Automation (Eg Junit l selenium)

A Developer is accountable for: l Component Level design l Technical Systems Specifications l Data Design l Component Test Cases l Unit Test Case Design l Coding of the component design l Fully testing the component design / coding – before and after the application development

Planning and Organizing:

  • Build code and amend as per program specification and agreed standards.
  • Prepare Unit Test Cases
  • Conduct Unit testing and fixing the detected errors.
  • Develop Technical Support documentation with agreed standards
  • Take part in reviews of own work
  • Document work done as per the standards followed in the bank

Acquire and Implement:

  • Construct, interpret and execute system and program test plans to verify correct operation of completed systems
  • Document all work using required standards, methods, and tools.
  • Translate logical designs into component designs, considering the Integrated solution design, performance requirements and existing systems.
  • Update and provide input to risk analysis and development plans to take account of design decisions.
  • Ensure alignment to Release methodology and procedures.

Deliver & Support:

  • Working alone or with colleagues on simple or medium complexity systems, produce outline systems specifications from Integrated Solution Design or Functional Specifications covering for examples, scope, constraints (such as performance, resources
  • Hardware, network and software environments, main system functions and information flows, data load and implementation strategies, phasing of development, requirements not met, and alternatives considers.
  • Build (code) user / system interfaces, including menus, screen dialogues, in outs, reports, validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls, recovery routines and contingency procedures.
  • Working with data analysis colleagues where appropriate, produce or update system object/data models and correlate these with corporate models.
  • Working with appropriate database design or database administration colleagues where appropriate, to translate object and data models into appropriate DB schemas within design constraint.
  • Assist less experienced colleagues with difficult coding problems.
  • Conduct reviews of supplied specifications as appropriate
  • Provide guidance and assistance to colleagues in any aspect of program component design, creation, testing and documentation.

Additional responsibilities: Coaching of junior staff l QA work of junior staff l Identify ongoing efficiencies and cost saving initiatives l Ensure that all component design takes full account of specified requirements and constraints

Knowledge l Qualifications:

  • BCom Information Systems
  • BSc Computer Science or Information Systems
  • Diploma in Information Systems
  • Van Zyl & Prichard / LUSO/ ITUC Programming qualification
  • Bank recognized computer programming course
  • Any other Java qualification
  • Postillion SDK Training
  • Advanced Postillion Training (Post Card; Postillion Office Realtime)
