Portfolio Accountant: Industrial

SUMMARY:
An international property company that owns and manages a diversified portfolio of over 500 property assets, locally and internationally is looking for a Portfolio Accountant to join their organisation

POSITION INFO:

Job Purpose
To oversee the accounting and reporting in the region (Durban) for the Industrial Portfolio.

 

Qualification & Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree with Accounting 3 would be advantageous.
• 5 years’ experience post qualification in accounting, preferably in the property industry.
• Good knowledge of property accounting principles.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy of monthly accounting – ensure that financials and projections are reported accurately in the region.
• Oversee and provide guidance and support to Creditors Dept.
• Authorise Petty Cash, Municipal Accounts & Supplier payments on Nicor.
• Review results for each property each month, including balance sheet reconciliations.
• Attend monthly portfolio meetings and ensure that all queries are timeously resolved.
• Ensure that accounting policies are in line with sector guidelines and that they are consistently applied in the region.
• Oversee reporting on co-owned properties, joint ventures & serve as Trustee on Body Corporate.
• Review adjustment accounts on purchase and sale of properties and clearing of balance sheets.
• Assist in budget and annual audit process.
• Liaise with Utilities department on municipal and rates queries to ensure they are timeously resolved.
• Attend to ad hoc requirements of Asset manager, Sector Head or Fund accountant.
• Attend to VAT Return’s where necessary.
