POSITION INFO:

 

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

 

 

The purpose of this post is to manage and delegate the maintenance and preventative maintenance work, services and equipment of all NMU Campuses in accordance with legislative requirements and NMU policies and procedures pertaining to the Plumbing and Bricklaying trade.

 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

 

 

  • Supervise artisans, plan their work and ensures that activities take place according to specific schedules, procedures and standards.
  • Allocates labour, spares and material.
  • Ensures that all safety rules are adhered to.
  • Inspects workplace regularly.
  • Identifies and solves material and equipment problems.
  • Seeks continuous improvement of products, machines and equipment.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance work are completed.
  • Manage all staff within their sections.
  • Manage requisitions relative to their section and job cards on a daily basis.
  • Inspection of projects and alteration related work.
  • Be able to work independently and complete all standby-related work.
  • All administrative duties related to this function.
  • Advise on the portfolio George Campus when needed.

 

 

 

CORE COMPETENCIES

 

 

 

  • Have good knowledge of maintenance and preventative maintenance building infrastructures.
  • Have excellent knowledge of Larger Buildings and Services infrastructure.
  • Have excellent knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Have good knowledge of Construction Safety Legislation.
  • Have good knowledge of supervising personnel.
  • Have good knowledge of reading, writing and calculation of technical data.
  • Computer Literacy.
  • Have good knowledge of building plans & specifications.

 

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

 

 

  • N6 or equivalent.
  • Accredited Trade Certificate in Plumbing.
  • 3-5 years trade related work experience.
  • 3-5 years management or supervisory experience.
  • Unendorsed Category B driver’s license.
  • A Qualification in project management will be an advantage.
