Qualifications

• Matric or N6
• Pipe fitting qualification or equivalent
• Relevant construction experience
• Supervisory course
• Communication in English (Verbal and Written)

 

Experience & Requirements

• 7 years working experience in a construction environment on relevant projects
• Able to start Immediately
• Own transport and accommodation
• Clear Criminal Record

 

Key Functions:

• Manage and control pipework installation and maintenance activities on a nuclear plant, based on productions, quality and safety requirements.
• Effectively regulate and control activities by having daily meeting and assigning tasks and targets with detailed information.
• Maintain and control discipline, absenteeism and manage the grievance procedure.
• Maintain a co-operative relationship with unions in the work area.
• Monitor and manage daily production and investigate deviations from production targets and standards
• Submit progress reports and also review individual performance
• Control overtime and minimize lost hours.
• Ensuring equipment is available and operable by doing regular equipment checks, maintaining registers and ensuring timeous maintenance and cleaning requests.
• Investigate probable cause of equipment failures and break downs.
• Early identification of problem areas and ensuring corrective actions for any anomalies to ensure minimal rework and non-conformances.
• Proper understanding and sign off of relevant QCP hold points where needed and ensuring work is conducted in accordance with the specifications and procedures.
• Report any quality issues to the Quality and Construction Managers.
• Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders (Client, Rigging and Welding Superintendents, etc) to ensure readiness, progress and targets are met and properly coordinated timeously.
• Maintain progress as per the project plan and to communicate any deviations or progress with the project planner.
• Highlight any activities or events that may (or did) cause delays.
• Liaise with Rigging and Welding Superintendents, as well as other organizations (scaffold, materials movement), to ensure timeously completion and co-ordination of these activities to the piping works
• Observe and maintain a safe working environment, to minimize safety incidents and that all legal requirements are met by attending daily safety meetings, pre-job briefs, etc. Report any safety
• issues to the Safety and Construction Managers and adherence to construction regulations and OSH Act.
• Identify training needs and initiate a training program together with the relevant department.
• Perform any reasonable duties, not described above, required within the scope of this position in order to achieve company objectives.
