SUMMARY:
Our client in Johannesburg has a Piping Designer position available.

The Main purpose of the job is to ensure 3D model and drawings are created to the project and discipline standards and specifications. The

JOB DESCRIPTION:

MINIMUM EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

NTC3 or higher
Draughting certificate or diploma

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Relevant 3D modelling and CAD packages

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Attention to detail and correctness

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES MINIMUM EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Familiarity with the project specifications, design criteria, standards and procedures.
Ensure sufficient approved information is requested in advance for the task at hand
To model or draft components in-line with applicable standards and instructions received.
Whenever a model or drawing is produced due consideration to RAMBOE shall be given (without exception).
Request information and assistance where unsure of instruction.
Update progress on project AMP sheet daily
Use the discipline check sheet to ensure completeness of work.
Communicate all discrepancies, clashes, interferences, misalignments and incompleteness found in the 3D model or drawing to Section Leader/Discipline Engineer
Production of all fit for application General Arrangement’s and Detail Drawings.
Ensure all drawings are checked by a Checker and comply with the quality standards applicable
Ensure all drawings are signed as “Done by”.
Produce a design sketch for calculations showing the minimum required information
Complete weekly timesheets accurately and in-line with correct WBS
Ensure work completed within approved budget
Unnecessary rework should be avoided. Do not start with drawing if in doubt
Interfacing with other disciplines to ensure proper design integration
Attend discipline model reviews as and when required
Input into P&ID change requests
Master P&ID’s in stick file to be updated with changes
Drawing register to be maintained
Leave application planning in conjunction with Section Leader and Department Manager
Ensure company induction has been attended
Overtime to be approved prior to commencement of work
Comply to QMS system according to commodity codes

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Will be required to travel to site as and when required

DEVELOPMENTAL / TRAINING / SUCCESSION PLANNING:

Ensure that draughtsperson stays up to date with drawing packages
Assist Discipline Manager with keeping piping drawing office standards current
