POSITION INFO:

A client of ours has a vacancy exists for a Phlebotomy Technician based at a private hospital in Johannesburg

This is a 3month contract with a chance of going permanent.

The successful candidate will be responsible for using their medical knowledge to collect samples from patients into the appropriate container required, preventing any pre-analytical errors that may affect the result outcomes. Their duties include ensuring adequate stock for sample collection, collection of sample from the patient, correctly capturing the patient request form on the LIS system, ensuring appropriate disinfection between patients and other administrative duties required.

The Phlebotomy technician is also required to process patient samples on the Point of care diagnostic equipment, Genexpert and the Antigen rapid test kit. The phlebotomist technician will report into the medical technologist on site.

Requirements

• Completion of a Phlebotomy technician certification
• Registration with HPCSA (Phlebotomy technician)
• Further education and training certificate: Phlebotomy techniques, NQF level 4
• 2-3 years’ experience
• Experience with LIS systems/ computer literate
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in pressured environment
• Ability to work independently, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude
• Ability to manage and prioritize scheduling of work
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information
• Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner
• Administrative skills
