SUMMARY:
Are you an experienced Pattern-shop Manager and Foundry Expeditor with Engineering Patternmaker qualification and 5 years minimum experience in designing and pattern making environment, repairing, and manufacturing new patterns?

POSITION INFO:
My client in the Valve Manufacturing Sector has a unique and diversified portfolio of products catering for the mineral processing, power generation, water and affluent markets, is looking for a Pattern shop Manager and Foundry Expeditor to be responsible for managing, reporting and coordinating activities of all staff engaged in making models, foundry patterns, and prototypes from wood, plastic, plaster, or metal, for use in manufacturing of dies, castings, and such products as machinery parts and body parts from drawings / blueprints, managing and maintaining all pattern equipment which belongs to the client so that it conforms to drawing requirements, establishing a relationship with foundries so that foundry processes and the client’s patterns are aligned to make good quality castings. Foundry expediting will be required from time to time.

Minimum qualification requirements and skills:

  • Matric / Grade 12 or NQF 4
  • Qualification: Engineering Patternmaker
  • 5 years’ experience in designing and pattern making environment, repairing, and manufacturing new patterns.
  • Ability to operate all machines and tools to manufacture quality patterns as per specifications / drawings.
  • Effectively Managing a Pattern Shop and employees to achieve Company objectives and goals.
  • Experience in various Foundry processes and functionality
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Managing patternmaker’s design, machine, fitting to foundry patterns, core boxes, or match plates or as per requirement to work orders, sample parts, or mock-ups.
  • Managing conformance of patterns, designs, or templates dimensions to specifications, using measuring instruments such as callipers, scales, and micrometres calculating dimensions of work pieces, products, or equipment.
  • Managing assembly of pattern sections, using hand tools, bolts, screws, rivets, glue, or welding equipment. Select pattern materials such as wood, resin, fiberglass, and other metal components as per drawings / blueprints requirements or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
  • Managing on a weekly to monthly basis, Metal Patternmakers repair and rework templates and patterns. And lay-out and draw or scribe patterns onto material, using compasses, protractors, rulers, scribes, or other instruments.
