JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a Paralegal in the Bedfordview area to assist the legal advisors in daily duties and projects.

 

Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Advantageous - Paralegal or equivalent diploma.
  • Advantageous – German speaking.
  • Prerequisite – At least 3 years’ experience as a paralegal in a corporate and commercial office or firm– corporate and commercial law experience essential.
  • MS Office

  • Lexis Nexis - Researching legislation, Government Gazettes, practice notes and legal articles.

Skills

  • Sound knowledge of procedures in terms of the relevant South African legislation.
  • Solid knowledge of corporate and commercial law and employment law.
  • Knowledge of legal record keeping in general.
  • Some knowledge of contract law and ability to draft simple agreements by using company’s legal agreement templates.
  • Ability to assess basic information to draft agreements.
  • Ability to format and edit word documents is imperative

Job Description

  • Reviewing and managing incoming all legal correspondence, identifying legal matters and/or new clients and to thereafter open relevant files for the legal advisors, conducting preliminary and preparatory tasks for files such as requesting documents from the client, verifying information or conducting relevant research.
  • Formatting, editing and where applicable drafting certain agreements such as, service level agreements, non-disclosure agreements etc by accessing the company’s standard legal agreement templates and ensuring that clients provide correct and complete information.
  • Liaising with attorneys, regulators and clients and ensuring that clients adhere to legal processes.
  • Managing own legal portfolio such as submissions to government departments, regulators and compliance matters.
  • Formatting, editing and drafting certain reports, opinions and letters and ensuring that applicable deadlines are met.
  • Conducting legal research into new developments, legislative updates and legal comments to certain government departments.
  • Management of legal advisor’s diaries.
