SUMMARY:
Packaging technologist

POSITION INFO:

Providing support to Operations and Packaging Development. Ability to work with minimal supervision effectively and within stipulated timelines.

 

Purpose and Objectives

• Provide support to the Operational and Production team (Core function)
• Ensure packaging running on packing lines are running smoothly and efficiently.
• Ability to manage export label inventory, including issuing, returns and ordering.
• Responsible for quality checks of all incoming packaging materials
• Verification of pallet plans versus stock being palletized on the floor.
• Ability to create Packing Standard Operating Procedure’s
• Ability to create and communicate Packaging Alerts for all new packaging changes.
• Support the development of structural (primary, secondary and tertiary) packaging initiatives.
• Proactively interfacing with Production, Supply Chain and NPD.
• Work with and support internal teams to ensure launches and deliverables are met on time.
• Monitor, assess and testing of packaging for functionality and ensuring compliance
• Must have experience with CAPE PACK pallet software programme or similar

 

Requirements

JOB RELATED KNOWLEDGE

• Knowledge and experience in dealing with plastic films and trays, carton board, corrugated packaging materials and labels.
• Must have a hands approach and can do now attitude.
• Must have experience with Excel and Cape Pack.
• Experience with packaging and food manufacturing environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
• Innovative and problem solving ability

• Adhere to Food Safety Policies and Procedures

JOB EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 2-3 years of practical working knowledge of packaging within a Food Manufacturing environment.
• Experience with operational environment

EDUCATION

• Essential must have Minimum Nat Diploma Food Technology or similar and Diploma in Packaging.
• Experience with Packaging and Food industries advantageous
