PRODUCTION PLANNER (SAP) - Salt River - R30,000 – R35,000 CTC PER MONTH
POSITION INFO:
Large Precision Engineering Machine shop seeks an experienced Production Planner, with a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering qualification.
Formal Qualification:
Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering advantageous
Experience:
Minimum five years of Production Planning related experience using ERP in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in the SAP Warehouse Management and Production modules.
Knowledge

Knowledge and understanding of product manufactured and technologies employed
Knowledge of company systems and procedures with a strong focus on Planning elements
Knowledge of SAP (Warehouse Management / Production modules) a pre-requisite
MAIN TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountable for overall Production Planning function.
Ensure correct SAP processes are followed by the Planning Department.
Evaluating sales orders to create suitable production schedules.
Determine the amount of material, equipment, and labour required for production.
Promptly addressing and resolving production issues to minimize delays in production.
Coordinating production operations in accordance with material, labour, and equipment availability.
recommending viable solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality.
Effecting changes to production schedules to ensure that production deadlines are met.
Compiling status and performance reports and submitting them to management in a timely manner.
Promptly informing the relevant departments of changes to current production schedules if required due to breakdowns, material constraints etc.
Lead change towards operational excellence, and assist in the continual improvement of the system, process and product to reduce waste and delays, to produce cost reductions and higher levels of efficiency.
Responsible for investigating stock / production variances and reporting findings to Manufacturing Manager.
Report any Planning issues / concerns to the Manufacturing Manager.
Responsible for all IR activities within Department
JOB OBJECTIVE(S)
Accountable for the preparation of the overall and daily Production Plan in close co-operation with the sales, distribution and material supply functions in order to co-ordinate production output with customers'' orders and to optimise utilisation of facilities and labour.
Present the Production Plan to the Production Manager and Manufacturing Manager on a weekly basis
Oversee the Planning Department and report any issues to the Manufacturing Manager.
Monitor MRP and react accordingly, looking at raw material supply and component manufacture.
Report on the achievement to the Production Plan to the Production Manager and Manufacturing Manager.
Highlight any potential concerns regarding the Production Plan to the Production Manager and Manufacturing Manager to allow timeous intervention to take place.

Production stoppages due to Planning to be minimal
On Time In Full (OTIF) to customer to be above 90%
SAP process adherence by team members
Stock take accuracy due to effective planning
Standardization of tasks and processes
Availability of reporting trackers (plan vs actual), stock shortage lists, production status reports
