PRODUCTION ENGINEER

SUMMARY:
PRODUCTION ENGINEER for the AUTOMOTIVE - COMPONENTS MANUFACTURING sector required for a PINETOWN (KZN) - based position ASAP

POSITION INFO:

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5 Years’ experience in steel / metal products
• Preferably, a person who has worked in an Automotive Production Environment
• Reasonable experience in Auto-CAD use, Pneumatics and Hydraulics technology (PLC)
• Strong working knowledge of Lean-Principles
• Good organisational and leadership skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Overall plant and machine optimization
• Develop and maintain technical standards
• Provide technical training to staff
• Plant improvements: Costs and Operations
• To utilize the tools of Process Engineering to improve processes within the organization.
• Project management and scheduling
• Industrialisation of new machinery and equipment
• Process improvements based on Value Stream Mapping, Time Studies, Work Sampling, statistical methods and root cause analysis.
• Application of lean methodologies
• Operational improvement based upon feasibility studies, capacity planning, ergonomics and best practices
• Design of manufacturing processes and facility layout
• Supporting relevant departments to achieve company goals
• Assisting production with trouble shooting and problem solving
• Prepare work instructions, FMEA, Control Plans etc
• Co-ordinate and track engineering changes
• Conduct training for new process/product introduction
• Ensure safe working procedures are followed
• Ensure compliance with Management Systems requirements (IATF 16949, ISO 14001 etc.)
• Measuring and reporting on objectives and targets
• Initiating of and participation in corrective, preventive and improvement projects
• Signing-Off of new equipment

REMUNERATION PACKAGE & BENEFITS:

• Basic Salary: R 40 000 – R 45 000, depending on qualifications & experience
• Incentives: Quarterly Performance Bonus – paid annually
• Bonus: 13th cheque guaranteed.
• Benefits: Provident fund (8%) and medical aid / gap cover (75%)
• Allowances: Cell phone allowance

The candidate MUST be in good standing with all arms of law enforcement agencies of the country. The individual should also be willing to travel to other continents, especially to the headquarters in Europe for business.
