SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a Pre-Owned Equipment Assessor to be based at JHB Eastern Suburbs who has an understanding of capital asset financing / rental / credit and banking processes used equipment (heavy machinery) sales, finance, and administration experience.

POSITION INFO:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify purchasing and sales opportunities for pre-owned equipment, primarily utilising trade-in request, but also through lead generation, networking, auctions (locally & globally), insurance houses, etc.
  • Liaise with Sales Managers to identify large fleets and ensure Bell gets first rights to equipment in line to be decommissioned/de-fleeted
  • Build business relationships with brokers/dealers, auction companies and other market opportunities 
  • Identify equipment that is under-utilised, aged, or on disposal lists to market
  • Negotiate and purchase pre-owned equipment, within level of authority 
  • Maintain market knowledge on pre-owned equipment sales, including conditions affecting sales, and provide guidance to management and business
  • Evaluate current practices and propose adjustments to ensure continuous improvement & revenue growth
  • Review pre-owned equipment Trade Evaluation assessment provided, determining whether proposed repair budget and fair value determination, enable profitable return on investment
  • Monitor and manage value increase process
  • Maintain Pre-owned Equipment Price Lists and continually evaluate sales pricing to maximise gain balanced by target volume
  • Maintain Live Residual Value database, ensuring accuracy
  • Management of strategic stocking of pre-owned equipment, maximising profitability   
  • Responsible for pre-owned equipment stock count process, investigation, and reporting of discrepancies
  • Follow-up with internal customers to ensure customer satisfaction and to drive additional leads
  • Promote the company and products, acting as a brand ambassador
  • Build and grow relationships with stakeholders   

Requirements:

  • Bcom Business management or Administration or related Diploma
  • Min 5 years’ used equipment (heavy machinery) sales, finance, and administration experience  
  • Technical aptitude 
  • Product and application knowledge 
  • Pre-owned equipment costing/pricing knowledge
  • Understanding of capital asset financing / rental / credit and banking processes 
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Must have general financial and business knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal & written are essential)
  • Ability to negotiate at the highest level
  • Must be computer literate
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Travel will be required
  • Self-motivated and resourceful
