SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintenance of the tracks, hostels, stables, buildings and surrounding. Making sure the tracks are functional, safer, tidy, and creating a safe and a healthy environment for operational purposes.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric or equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience in operating Grader, Front End Loader, TLB and tractor
  • Valid Certificate in plant equipment operator or equivalent
  • Track maintenance, horse environment, health and safety and the use of different machineries
  • Basic knowledge of the role of plant operator
  • Basic health and safety knowledge
  • Basic facility maintenance skills
  • Good understanding and knowledge of equipment and earth moving equipment
  • Basic tracks maintenance skills and refurbishing of tracks
  • Experience in tracks work will be an added advantage

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Tracks top ups and final levelling of the tracks using Grader/Bob Cat
  • Operate front end loader, loading horse bedding to the trucks
  • Operate TLB to excavate, expose irrigation pipelines/plumbing, trenching, and clearing sands
  • Operate TLB to excavate, expose irrigation pipelines/plumbing, trenching, and clearing sands from storms water drainages
  • Use basic tractor implements to condition training surfaces
  • Perform tracks maintenance related tasks
  • Operate grader levelling the tracks, horse walkways and the paddocks (rings)
  • Accurately complete prime documentation for all work undertaken
  • Report all health, safety, environment concerns in the building
  • Undertake general facility maintenance
  • Basic building, stables, tracks, and yard maintenance duties
  • Tracks refurbishment and maintenance experience will be an added advantage
  • Must be able to work outside of business hours and weekend work
