JOB DESCRIPTION:

Summary:
 
The primary responsibility of the OPM is to ensure the implementation, monitoring, maintenance and evaluation of the vital elements in the organisation. You will need to maintain and improve the people assets of the organisation.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and improve the Vital Elements of the Organisation
    • Performance Management System designed, implemented, evaluated, monitored and maintained.
    • All systems and processes are aligned with organisational structures.
    • Custodian of SOILL values applied and entrenched within the company.
    • Competent leaders are developed through coaching of leadership skills and techniques.
    • Create and maintain a positive working climate for the enabling and conducive environment.
    • Ensure and monitor the alignment of production controls.
    • Establish and improve Organisational Development Programs for a climate of continuous learning.
    • Ensure effective communication within the Company.
    • Ensure best practices are shared throughout the Company.
    • Drive and maintain Team Talks and create a focused and energic environment for continuous development.
    • Support organisational design and change management strategies that enable to Company to respond to growth, new technologies, market demands and adaptable workplace practices.
  • Compile and manage the OPM Budget
    • Compile and manage OPM Budget within the overall budget of the Company.
  • Ensure healthy relationships between stakeholders
    • Positive OPM brand is proactively developed in the organisation.
    • Develop and maintain a good healthy relationship with all relevant stakeholders and business units.
    • Develop effective internal relationships to understand the business needs and to deliver effective Human Resources solutions.
    • Develop and foster relationships with industry thought leaders to apply the latest knowledge and best practice thinking.
  • Ensure effective Performance Management
    • Report and manage all organisational performance risks within the Company.
    • Monitor and manage individual and organisational performance.
    • Track organisational performance including development and measurement of key performance indicators.
    • Evolve organisational performance management systems and processes to enable real-time access to performance data and generate feedback.
    • Continuously drive the role of Human Resources from a relative approach to a proactive approach.
    • Support performance management processes based on well-defined objectives and competencies that accurately identify good performers address poor performance and provide guidance on career paths and development for Managers.
  • Ensure effective and timeous workforce planning
    • Ensure effective time in recruitment in line with the direction and structure of the Company.
    • Ensure the creation and implementation of programs to promote employee engagement and retention.
    • Ensure changes and compliance to the Organogram is lawful and continuous.
  • Ensure the effective legislative compliance
    • Human Resource Policies and Procedures are formulated, approved, implemented, managed and maintained in compliance with the SOILL Game Plan and relevant government regulations.
    • Ensure professional and pro-active Labour Relations Service is provided to the Company in line with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and Labour Relations Act.
    • Ensure investigations are conducted appropriately and concerns are resolved effectively.
    • Directly manage and resolve escalated employee relations concerns.
    • Maintain current knowledge of the industry trends and employment legislation to ensure continuous compliance.
    • Ensure all Human Resource documentation is administered and up to date.
  • Ensure the effective management and maintenance of the BBBEE Score
    • Maintain the acceptable Black Economic Empowerment Level 4.
  • Ensure the effective management of the HR and Payroll Systems
    • Effectively managed all aspects of remuneration on SAGE People.
  • Ensure the maintenance of employee wellbeing
    • Provide employee assistance through individual and group counselling.
  • Ensure the consistent application of policies and procedures
    • Coach Line Managers in the fair and consistent application of policies and procedures and discuss and advise employees on policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Company values
    • Assess compliance and adherence to the Company values and facilitate corrective interventions where necessary.
    • Engage and communicate with relevant stakeholders to influence effective change, serve as a role model for desired behavioural changes and work together with Senior Management to develop skills and collective mindsets.
  • Ensure the maintenance of effective communication
    • Develop, implement, maintain and improve communication strategies and facilitate the successful implementation of the communication plan.
    • Evolve corporate performance management and reporting systems to track progress and create incentives for targeted organisational change.
    • Drive the implementation of digital platforms for the successful reporting and archiving of documentation.
    • Ensure excellent communication to all levels of Management in the Company, and be good at keeping the peace and managing conflict within the Company.
  • Maintain and coach line management on management styles and effect 360 appraisals
    • Coach line management on the principles of B-style management and 360 appraisals.
    • Monitor the application of B-style management and facilitate interventions where there are shortfalls in terms of the application. Provide feedback after 360 appraisals.
    • Integrate lessons and recommendations from previous performance reviews, internal and external audits, and union negotiations into a coherent change agenda.
  • Ensure efficient control over the structure and payment of salaries by applying applicable methodologies
    • Monitor and control salary parameters and adjustments.
    • Apply the grading methodology and conduct salary discussions with employees.
  • Ensure the management and maintenance of company benefits
    • Promote the value of benefits and monitor all types of leave taken or to be taken.
  • Ensure the career advancement of EE candidates
    • Focus on the accelerated development of EE candidates and the progress of successful candidates to the next level of readiness.
Key Competencies:

Education and Experience
  • A BCom degree in Business Management, Human Resources or similar qualification
  • More than 5 years experience in a Human Resource Management or similar environment
Interpersonal Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong administration, organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation and networking skills
  • Understanding of business and financial acumen
  • Good understanding of relevant legislation
  • Understanding of management principles
  • Ability to design and implement systems
  • Ability to understand and deal with diverse cultures
