Operations / Fleet Manager

POSITION INFO:

Introduction
Join this 15 years well established company that provides turnkey waste management solutions throughout the waste management value chain based in JHB South. they are looking for a well round Operations / Fleet Manager to manage the end to end fleet operations of the business nationally

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fully accountable for the execution and management of daily load planning/routes schedule
  • Accountable for all load safety and maintenance
  • Ensuring fleet risk is minimised and insurance requirements maintained
  • Handle continuous fleet improvements in cost saving, lead-time reduction and general logistics
  • Manage 3rd Party Logistics supplier relationships to the company
  • Management of all driver activity, daily contact, PPE, leave schedule, driver hours, physical brief and debrief of truck and driver documentation
  • Manage Driver Performance - coaching of video clips, fuel consumption, vehicle turnaround time, vehicle utilisation, vehicle cleanliness, scores, ensure improvements and driver development, manage and schedule driver training where needed
  • Tyre Management
  • Washbay Management - Staff and Equipment
  • Fleet must always be neat and tidy
  • Driver discipline, investigation, enquiries
  • Receive and resolve client queries
  • Fleet administration
  • Daily load schedule with load per truck
  • Daily updates to customers with regards to ETA for deliveries
  • Chep pallets - ensuring pallet return
  • Checking trucks
  • Communication with clients, warehouse staff, business unit role players and other depots
  • Tracker monitoring
  • Services of fleet and booking of daily workshop checks
  • Capturing of data
  • Maintain departmental compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure departmental adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Recordkeeping.
  • Manage other employees.
  • Schedule, route, maintain, and track transport vehicles.
  • Negotiate with suppliers.
  • Resolve disputes.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of operations.
  • Implement and enforce transportation scheduling and policy changes.


Minimum experience & qualifications required

  • Matric Certificate plus a National Diploma or degree in Transport/ logistics/ commercial qualification
  • At least 5 years'' experience in fleet or logistics management
  • Ability to interact with external institutions and customers
  • Knowledge and experience in log sales and marketing
  • Knowledge of the logistics and waste management industry would be an added advantage
  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
