Operations Optimization Engineer

POSITION INFO:

Our client, a manufacturing company, is seeking to appoint an Operations Optimization Engineer to be based in the Northern suburbs.

The focus of this position is optimizing operations based on data analysis.

Requirements and Experience:

• Industrial Engineering qualification / Degree essential.
• Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in a manufacturing / production plant environment.
• Experience in a mechanical engineering environment.

Key areas of performance:

1. Data collection and analysis:

• Responsible to standardize production data capturing and present data in a usable format for the use of engineering purposes.
• Identify key areas of improvement through data capturing.
• Ensure that production data capturers follow correct capturing methodology.
• Responsible to conduct time studies related to operational activities.
• Motivate process changes through the use of data.

2. Manufacturing and Lean Engineering:

• Measure throughput of production machinery to determine plant capacity.
• Determine the plant utilization capacity.
• Determine machine cycle times and changeover times.
• Determine production attainment and provide concepts / strategies to improve plant output.
• Determine machine downtime rate, percentage planned maintenance and repair rates.
• Determine first pass yield of production machinery and processes.

3. Design, implementation, and monitoring:

• Assist projects and design departments with new production layouts to optimize process flow.
• Advise production and maintenance departments on process improvement strategies and designs.
• Assist with the identification and improvement process of critical operating procedures that can improve overall operational efficiency.
• Oversee and track the implementation of new processes / strategies to ensure proper implementation.
• Adapt strategies / concepts as required.
• Monitor and determine the impact of processes changes.

4. Reporting and general administration:

• Report on all technical findings, concepts / strategies, and the execution thereof.
• Responsible for the administration of all technical data and reports relating to process optimization.
• Responsible for progress reporting on identification, solution formulation and implementation phases of all process optimization projects.
• Compile impact reports on implemented projects.

Starting date: As soon as possible.

Salary offered: Market related.
