SUMMARY:
Our client, a reputable and well-established company offering full turnkey solutions within infrastructure - civil and construction in Nigeria - is looking for a highly experienced Head of Mechanical Operations Manager, with a solid background in managing large projects across these disciplines who will be reporting to the Managing Director.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Internationally recognised degree in mechanical engineering
  • International experience working with major competitors on large scale projects
  • Extensive commercial understanding and experience
  • Fluent and highly proficient in English - orally and written
  • Highly effective in negotiations with a proven track record
  • More than 5 years’ of international professional experience as a Mechanical and Technical Manager
  • High expertise in all construction equipment and construction-specific production plants (tower crane, special civil engineering equipment (on- and off-shore), asphalt and concrete mixing plants, equipment for asphalt road construction and rehabilitation, concrete road construction, earth-moving equipment, energy supply and transport and logistics equipment)
  • Target and solution orientation, as well as a systematic, precise and cost-conscious way of working
  • High level of service orientation
  • Communication and teamwork skills
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Good IT skills (MS Office)


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operational management (Operations Manager) of multiple mechanical engineering departments and workshop located nationwide with a large construction company based in West Africa - structural engineering, civil engineering, specialized deep foundation engineering.
  • Technical and economic management of the workshops regarding repair and service of plant and equipment, including quality assurance is essential
  • Responsible for technical management and financial management covering repair, service and maintenance of plant and equipment
  • Managing and overseeing quality assurance
  • Optimising and controlling workshop operations and processes
  • Making sure that spare, wear and service parts as well as store logistics is optimised and monitored effectively.
  • Planning and supporting new construction site yards and workshops in all relevant building sectors
  • Coordinating and analysing the existing workshop resources and locations
  • Creating profitability analysis of equipment and production plants as well as their exchange
  • Strategic planning and implementation of new construction equipment
  • Facilitating and supporting the equipment disposition department
  • Managing the equipment management program
  • Planning, supporting and fostering solid relationships with external supervisors from equipment manufacturers
  • Requiring the development of personnel, training within the organisation, and developing a specialized supervisory team.
  • Develop personnel, train the organisation, and develop a specialized supervisor team
  • Planning and support of external supervisors from equipment manufacturers
  • Coordination and analysis of the existing workshop resources and locations
  • Optimization and control of spare, wear and service parts, store logistic
  • Identification of equipment investments and assessment of offers
  • Implementation of current and innovative construction equipment technologies
