POSITION INFO:

 

Our Client, a well-established and highly prestigious South African Manufacturer is seeking to URGENTLY appoint a dynamic Omron / Siemens PLC Electrician to be based in their Durban Engineering Operations.

MAIN PURPOSE FOR THE ROLE:

• Report directly into the Factory Engineer
• Increase machine availability for production by maintaining, repairing, and improving machinery in the factories.
• Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes.

KEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

• Min N4 qualification ESSENTIAL
• Successful completion of an Electrical trade test ESSENTIAL.
• This qualification could have been obtained through either a formal apprenticeship or Section 28 of the Manpower Training Act.
• Must have completed min of 4 years as a trade tested Electrician PLC experience (Siemens, Omron)
• Wireman’s licence ESSENTIAL
• Technical knowledge of the control panels, drives, motors and sensors

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammmeters and test lamps
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmeters, voltmeters and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system
• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
• Provide efficient electrician support service
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair
• Ensure compliance with codes, OHSACT and All relevant local and international codes and best practices.
• Direct and train workers to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Willing to work overtime when necessary and standby rota system.
• Must have own transport.
