OPERATOR CIRCULAR KNIFE GRINDING MACHINES (Salt River) R8,000 - R12,000 PM
POSITION INFO:
Engineering Company who produces, grinds, and sharpens all types of blades for industrial and manufacturing customers seek an Operator to work on Reform 70 or Reform 40 Circular knife grinding machines
Machine Operator Duties:
Ability to work in a fast-paced, environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
Experience in a manufacturing environment is required
Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment start-up and operation on multiple pieces of equipment
Operate multiple pieces of equipment specifically rotary grinding machines and planing machines.
Ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops
Ensure clean work environment and machine by following best practice housekeeping and sanitation
Ensure machines are correctly calibrated
Set feed information i.e. speed, shape, angle, size
Work to close/fine tolerance (+-0.1mm)
Load and unload jobs from the machines
Select, load, and unload abrasive material and dress as needed, change/top-up lubricants and cutting fluids as required.
Ensure regular and preventative maintenance is carried out
Report to team leader regularly regarding progress of jobs
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Read micrometres, callipers or other precision measuring tools.
Be meticulously accurate
Enjoy working with his hands
Have mathematical aptitude
Concentrate under noisy working conditions
Be able to read three-dimensional drawings
Must have the ability to manage time and tasks efficiently and effectively
Self-motivated with strong team spirit
Customer first work ethic
Excellent multi-tasking skills
Good time management skills
Machine Operators Qualifications
Matric
Trade Test Certificate
Trade tested qualified Turner
Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience (Steel Industry advantageous)
Knowledge of OHS Act.
