OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSE – MEYERTON

SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:

 Qualifications:

• Grade 12/equivalent
• Recognised Nursing Degree or NQF Level 7
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council

 Experience and Requirements:

• 3 years proven experience in the areas of Occupational Health Nursing. Certificate for dispensing, audiometry, and spirometry.
• Knowledge and experience in the steel industry.
• Strong Communication skills and investigative skills
• Good Planning and organising skills
• Knowledge of relevant legislation such as LRA, EEA, BCEA, Nursing Act, COIDA and OHSA. Problem solving and analysis,
• Operational knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and
• Analytical skills for report writing
• A stable work record and contactable references
• Reside close to Meyerton
• Driver’s licence and own reliable transport

 Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the development and administration of efficient and professional operations of occupational health services in accordance with company policies, practices, procedures, and applicable regulations to achieve the desired goals and objectives.
• Assist with all aspects of health services staffing, competency, processes, customer service, and quality improvement. Developing and implementing health and safety programs for the health clinic.
• Responsible for securing and developing all records, equipment, and programs related to occupational health service.
•  Documenting all employee injuries and illnesses within the workplace.
• Treating injuries and illnesses for employees, including follow-ups and referrals.
•  Capturing all injuries to the Compensation fund system with all requested documents.
• Monitoring the health status of employees.  
• Serving as a gatekeeper for healthcare services, including rehabilitation and disability matters.
• Observing and assessing the work environment for potential dangers and hazards.
• Counselling employees on physical and mental health issues and guiding them toward community resources and/or employee assistance programs.
• Conducting research on the effects of hazardous work conditions or workplace exposures, which may include gathering data and reporting findings to the employer.
