SUMMARY:
This senior position requires a qualified person with 5 years’ supervisor experience in the manufacturing of stainless/mild steel components in an automotive manufacturing environment. A tertiary technical qualification is a requirement. AUTOMOTIVE Manufacturing Industry experience is essential.

  • Relevant Technical qualification is an advantage.
  • 5 years’ supervisor experience in manufacturing of stainless/mild steel components in an automotive manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of relevant automotive industry customer specifics e.g. processes, procedures, policies, guidelines and legislation
  • Must have an understanding of the stainless/mild steel business as well as manufacturing processes and controls

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To manufacture steel components correctly and to establish 100% compliance with customer requirements.
  • To manage staff compliment to ensure performance and consistency
  • Assisting in the provision of a safe working environment in accordance with the OHSA
  • Manage production Job screens/train new employees
  • Control/Manage incoming/reprints/cancel/scrap of, works orders/parts to/on production floor.
  • Manage the balance production teams daily (absentees/skills)

Integrated Management Systems:

  • Reviewing performance measurement systems and procedures for all operators
  • Achieve daily production targets
  • Manage unplanned critical machine downtime and ensure backup systems are in place with minimal downtime.
  • Maintain Housekeeping daily.
  • Manage production Job screens in all areas. And provide training to new employees.
  • Control/manage incoming/reprints/cancel/scrap of, works orders/parts to/on production floor. (with the planning department.)
  • Manage and balance production teams daily (absentees/skills).
  • Record and report daily production figures
  • Fault finding/Troubleshooting on Production Floor
  • Assist in managing daily production meeting
  • Maintain Quality standards on production Floor
  • Assist in analyse Production efficiency and action to reach the target
  • Production planning of overtime for all operators on the production floor including staff.
  • Ensure operators are aware of their production targets and communicate to them their productivity made thus far.
  • Monitor production flow and systems.
  • Reduce rework and Scarp.
  • Complete production monitoring records.
  • Apply 7 Quality Basics rules.
  • Stop at defect rule to be followed as per SOP/ work station video.
  • Identify improvement opportunities.
  • Adhere to Corrective and Preventive actions implemented and report on effectiveness/ and or progress,
  • Fully cooperate with Business Management System internal and external Auditor during Process, Product and Systems audits.
  • 7S or Housekeeping of area during and after shift.
  • Conducting research on industry trends relating to operations improvements, new technologies, measurement equipment, etc
  • Assisting in the provision of a safe working environment for all employees in accordance with the regulations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 by:
  • Contribute to the effectiveness & efficiency of the Safety and Environmental Management System
  • Taking reasonable care for your own and others workplace health and safety
  • Respond to actual emergency situations.
  • Reporting all workplace hazards
  • Reporting all incidents and near misses
  • Adhering to all HSE policies and procedures.
  • Participating in the Safety Management Program when required, including regular training/ toolbox talks.
  • Knowledge of relevant Automotive Industry Customer Specifics (e.g. processes, procedures, policies, guidelines and legislation)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and controls
  • Proven record of achieving corporate objectives
  • Possess good computer skills, in particular, familiarity with MRP/ERP systems Production System
  • Have exposure to Sales & Operations Planning processes.
  • Possess strong planning, problem-solving and analytical skills and a numerate approach to management.
