POSITION INFO:

Our client in Stellenbosch is looking for a newly qualified CA(SA) or CIMA qualified Accountant (with approximately 2-3 years’ experience) to join their Finance team. 

The successful candidate will organise and oversee the commercial finance decision making processes, inclusive of planning, control and deviation analysis across functions. Actively manages financial processes to achieve profit targets in line with strategic business objectives by creating transparency / risk assessments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Oversees the monitoring and reporting on Management Accounts and trends in relation to overall strategies on a monthly basis.
• Monitors and controls the annual Budgets (including departmental budgets and CAPEX) accurately and timeously for the full Group.
• Assists the Group Financial Director and Head of Commercial Finance with the preparation and presentation of the Company Budget.
• Reports on the financial position and performance of the company at regular intervals, i.e. quarterly.
• Prepares and presents various profit forecasts on a quarterly basis during the year.
• Pro-actively analyses trends in activities within the company and presents possible solutions, pro-active course / correction measures.
• Liaise with reps proactively on variances vs budget on Gross Profit percentages
• Manages and monitors operational budgeting and forecasting requirements.
• Manages and controls monthly variances in cost of sales vs budget, stock management, dry goods control and variances within the provision accounts
• Ensures a monthly risks and opportunities document inclusive of feedback from all key stakeholders is created within the Group

Financial and Administration Processes

• Ensures all processes are completed accurately and timeously according to GAAP and internal accounting procedures
• Ensures monthly inventory adjustments are checked and processed (Contract wine, Bulk wine, FG, Dry Goods, Returnables)
• Ensures reconciliations of finished goods and dry goods are checked on a monthly basis
• Ensures monthly spot inventory checks are conducted and administered.
• Ensures correct procedures are followed for all write-offs of inventory are done and signed off.
• Ensures overhead recovery accounts are reconciled and necessary provisions have been calculated
• Ensures monthly costings and overhead recovery processes have been carried out and costing of items are done correctly.
• Reviews accounting processes regularly with the Commercial Finance Analyst and seeks continuous development of operational and financial processes
• Ensures compliance with company accounting policies, GAAP and internal control procedures

Asset Management

• Ensures all CAPEX Investments are monitored.
• Leads and ensures CAPEX forums are created and that investment decisions are made timeously and based on accurate information.
• Pro-actively monitors CAPEX processes and implements corrective action when necessary.
• Ensures asset depreciation is updated in the general ledger.
• Ensures Stock variances are monitored and an action plan is in place to ensure reduction in stock variances.
• Manages company assets – working capital, inventory, accounts payable and receivable and cash monies
• Updates and maintains fixed asset registers and reconcile to the general ledger

Financial Support 

• Ensures commercial financial service is provided in order to deliver timely and accurate information
• Participates in management review meetings and decision making processes
• Provides management information to Group Financial Director when required
• Ensures analyses of actual production costs of Finished Good vs budget is provided to the sales team
• Ensures reports are updated on under or over recoveries vs budget (CHEP)
• Control reports from ClickView and ensures it is accurate, robust and user friendly.

Financial Reporting

• Ensures the delivery of accurate and punctual financial information to Management and Stakeholder, so that informed decisions can be made.
• Ensures co-ordination of all reporting activities for the business is carried out and delivered timeously, ie Management accounts, Gross Profit Analysis, Expense Tracking and Monitoring, Return of Investment Analysis, Working capital management cycle, CAPEX monitoring and implementation, Accurate operational efficiency reports

People Management

• Ensures competent and motivated people in the team and recognition is given where due and less than full performance acted upon when necessary.
• Ensures effective communication between management, financial staff and production personnel.
• Conducts performance appraisals and reviews to identify areas that require attention and encourage self-development and learning that contributes to the development of individuals.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Matric / Grade 12
• Accounting Degree plus Articles / CA Qualification OR
• CIMA qualification + 2-3 years’ experience
• Experience in similar position with exposure to operations and manufacturing will be advantageous

SALARY:

R40 000 CTC (plus 13^th cheque)
