POSITION INFO:

Oceana Group Limited seeks to employ a suitably qualified and experienced Network Engineer to join the IT Department. This role will be responsible for managing and optimizing networks within the group. This position reports directly to the Network Infrastructure Manager. This position is based at the Oceana Group Head Office in Foreshore, Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities  

• High-level fault finding with routing and switching.
• Be involved in projects relating to the expansion of the company from a network perspective
• Advising on last mile network implementations for both main and backup connectivity to a branch
• Ensure audit security requirements are implemented
• Management and continued reduction of operational threat vectors due to patching or configuration (Operational Security)
• Analyse network data to determine network usage
• Oversee the 24/7 monitoring team and keep standard operating procedures up to date
• Monitoring which programs or data are using most bandwidth
• Maintaining of firewalls (Fortinet UTM)
  • Setup and configuration
  • Redundancy
  • DNS management
  • Forti Analyser
  • Forti Authenticator
• Management and configuration of all wireless controllers
• Backup of configurations throughout the network
• Ensuring the most cost- effective vendors are used for network installations
• Site visits and site scopes conducted to ensure a standard is delivered throughout the company
• Ensuring back up links are working to branches
• Managing all new installations of network points and ensuring quality of installation
• Managing daily escalated calls relating to all network issues and resolving calls within a set SLA
• Upgrading all network equipment to ensure that the company has world a class network -up to date (ISO)
• Tracking technology and implementing latest improvements

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree/Diploma in IT or equivalent
• Cisco CCNP qualification and above
• Network + (CompTIA)
• WCNA (Wireshark)
• Fortinet NSE 4 and above
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience with Cisco routing, VOIP and Fortinet firewalling  

Knowledge and Skills

• Experience in two or more of the following technologies: Fortigate firewalls, Microsoft Advance Threat Analytics (ATA), Cisco switches, Insight IDR/VM
• Strong background in Next Gen Zone based firewall management (policy, rule SIEM and IPS)
• Firm understanding of current market specific pentest and vulnerability frameworks
• Strong understanding of IP, TCP/IP, and other network administration protocols from a security perspective
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills
• Excellent time management
• Anility to work under pressure
• Creative and innovative
• Detail conscious
