NDT Technical Technician

Krugersdorp

1. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To plan and carry out inspection activities and performing equipment calibrations and conducts tests in accordance with procedures approved by the NDT Level III Technician. Interprets, evaluates and documents test results of work performed by Level II. Conducting a variety of tests and inspections utilizing established methods. Tasks are performed both in at the workshop and off site. Prepares test specimens, sets up and adjusts test equipment and records test data. Translate work requirements where needed

2. RESPONISIBILITIES

Setup and calibrate equipment checks to be done daily and to be documented
Conduct test with appropriate NDT technique (Magnetic Particle or Dye Penetrant Testing)
Interpret, evaluate and document results.
The Individual shall be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method in which certified and shall be capable of directing the work
The individual shall be familiar with the codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized by the employee
Must be deemed trustworthy and reliable
Must be able to perform tasks with minimal supervision
To utilize equipment in a manner prescribed by the manufacturer and in accordance with all regulations and requirements.
To maintain constant surveillance and immediate control of all equipment at all times while in use.
To prevent damage, loss or theft of equipment and all associated accessories when possible.
To provide required notification to SGS and Site safety officer in the event of an incident and to provide assistance when needed
Examinations shall be carried out by level 2 certified in accordance with the relevant written practice
Technician is responsible for maintenance of the equipment, and he/she must work through the necessary set up for each and every job that he/she take on
Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.

3. SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES

Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or entry to hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection and take action to address the hazard.
Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and take action to address the issue.
Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.

NDT Qualification SNT-TC1A or ISO 9712
Driver’s License

Technical Experience
