Model Validation Lead

SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Model Validation Lead to provide technical expertise and leadership in validating advanced AI and machine learning models across credit, finance, and fraud risk domains. This role ensures model accuracy, governance, and compliance while mentoring analysts and influencing outcomes in a dynamic environment.

POSITION INFO:

Model Validation & Governance
Lead independent validations of models, including credit risk, operational optimisation, financial crime, and marketing campaigns
Ensure robust model governance and risk management processes are in place
Design and implement challenger models using advanced machine learning techniques
Technical Leadership & Research
Provide subject matter expertise and oversight on technical reviews of models
Research emerging algorithms and technologies to ensure models meet best practice standards
Contribute to enhancing validation methodologies and frameworks
Collaboration & Mentorship
Partner with model development teams and stakeholders to provide effective challenge and assurance
Mentor analysts, identify skills gaps, and support professional growth
 
Skills & Experience:
Minimum 6+ years of experience in model development and validation within Data Science
Strong technical expertise in tree-based methods, neural networks, clustering, anomaly detection, and advanced ML techniques
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and emerging technologies such as large language models
Ability to design and deliver end-to-end ML projects independently
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
 
Qualifications:
Minimum: Honours Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science
Preferred: Master’s degree in mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science
