Mine Overseer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duties & Responsibilities

Allocate and organise the availability of resources (including consumables, TMM equipment and raw materials) and regulate the utilization of resources within designated area of responsibility to ensure achievement of production targets,
Interpret the mining operational plan and production results to develop a monthly operation plan in accordance with the annual production plan requirements,
Ensure health, safety, and security of self and fellow colleagues by adhere and complying to all safety and security regulations and policies,
Ensure discipline and compliance within the area of responsibility is enforced,
Review progressive production output information and statistics, investigate and action deviations to ensure attainment of production plan,
Ensure that condition monitoring of equipment, scheduled and planned maintenance are conducted timeously, safely and efficiently,
Manage the operation of the section by allocating work plans to Shift Supervisors,
Collaborate with the relevant stakeholders regarding technical issues to ensure effective integration with existing application of technology,
Review and advise on Mining design progress and status according to the project plan and project objectives,
Initiate and manage development of improved technical standards and systems to build effective operational support for achievement of internal production targets,
Oversee and enforce the inspection of materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions,
Co-ordinate the preparation of all project - technical documents to ensure that the technical content and cost are within the scope of work,
Ensure mining activities are done in accordance with the Mine production plan,
Determine schedules, assign work, and manage the performance of assigned personnel to ensure the achievement of production targets,
Develop and manage the implementation of the quality plan to ensure adherence to organisational quality standards,
Review and set production objectives and co-ordinate implementation of policy and procedures to optimize processes and systems,
Ensure the availability of approved mining layouts and production plans,
Identify deviations or non-conformances, plan and implementing corrective actions to ensure attainment of production plan,
Implement the organisations risk management plan, schedule risk assessments and draw up action plans to minimize or eliminate operational risks,
Manage the investigation and development of mining resources to allow for continuous improvement in terms of efficiency and unit cost,
Write technical reports,
Conduct on-the-job coaching to subordinates,

Desired Experience & Qualification

Grade 12 certificate,
Blasting Certificate of Competence,
Mine Overseer Certificate of Competence,
A Degree / Diploma in Mining Engineering will be advantageous,
Mine Manager Certificate of Competence will be advantageous,
Valid driving license (Code 8),
Valid Certificate of Fitness s issued by the company nominated Occupational Health Practitioner,
Must be in possession of a valid Certificate of Fitness
Sound knowledge of interpersonal relations and excellent communication skills,
Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills,
At least 2 years’ experience in an underground hard rock TMM mining environment as a Shift Supervisor.
Must have at least 3 year’s experience as a Mine Overseer: TMM in an underground Trackless Moving Machinery environment.
