SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Mining Manager, the incumbent will be required to oversee the mining aspects and activities of Contract work in the Mining Production Department.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Mining Manager, the incumbent will be required to oversee the mining aspects and activities of Contract work in the Mining Production Department.

Minimum Requirements:

Mine Overseers Certificate of Competency
Code 08 Driver’s License
At least 5years mining experience
Computer literate
Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mines) will be an added advantage
Block cave mining experience will be an advantage
Experience in managing the work of Contract companies in a Mining/Underground environment
Candidate must preferrably be a WHITE MALE

Full Description :

Task and Responsibilities:

Assess the quality of work performed by Contractors
Interact with all mining disciplines
Drive production and maintenance
Track Contract projects against plans
Monitor project schedules and resource allocations
Ensure maintenance management system is in place
Develop and maintain a document management system to ensure efficient storage and access of information
Work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice and report deviations
Ensure adherence and compliance to Safety, Health and Environmental processes

Other Skills / Competencies:

Managerial/supervisory experience
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Technical design, analysis and knowledge of mining operations
Planning, coordinating and prioritising
Analysing and interpretation of information
Applicable legal knowledge and understanding
Decision making ability in a fast changing environment
