MAIN PURPOSE:
Working in a manufacturing-orientated industry where you contribute to the effective and efficient assembly and maintenance of equipment.

EDUCATION SKILLS REQUIREMENT:

• South African Trade tested as a Millwright (Fitter).
• At least five years relevant post trade test experience of assembly/fitting of mining equipment with hydraulic systems.

COMPUTER LITERACY:

• Microsoft office advantageous.
• Syspro advantageous.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREA / JOB DUTIES:

• Assemble/build and repair equipment.
• Render technical assistance on all machinery as required by your supervisor/foreman.
• Thoroughly understand and apply mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot all types of machines.
• Fluid control systems or demonstrate troubleshooting abilities.
• Demonstrate integrated analytical and diagnostic skills in order to fault find, build and repair equipment and machinery during production/operations processes.
• Complex mechanical assemblies may include hydraulic and pneumatic on low profile mining machines.
• Maintain, overhaul and commission mechanical machines.
• Report any NCR’S to your foreman ASAP.
• Housekeeping - keep your workplace clean, tidy and safe as this is a Legal Requirement.
• Where applicable, adjustments include close tolerance adjusting, repairing, re-adjustment, re-setting and re-alignment.
• Monitoring and reporting on spares stock levels to ensure that the correct costs are booked against the service job.
• Report any breakdown to the supervisor/foreman not longer than one hour after all attempts have been made to repair the unit and the nature of the repairs required will result in the machine being inoperable for a period.
• At all times carry the correct / relevant equipment / tools to do the require site work / services.
• Immediately report any abuse / negligence by the operators on any of the equipment.
• Perform any reasonable task as required by your supervisor at any time.

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE:

• At least five years relevant post trade test experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Understand advanced mechanical theory and interpret detailed engineering drawings and flow diagrams.
• Highly developed mechanical orientation with associated hand skills.
• Specialised technical skills (analytical and diagnostic).
• Technology orientation in various contexts (Mechanical, control systems and information management).
• Solve a variety of problems, both familiar and unfamiliar in terms of advanced mechanical theory and practice.
• Experience on trackless machinery.
• Experience of the mining industry advantageous.
• Must have all round general knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures.
• Overhead crane, slinging & rigging experience/licence advantageous.
• Experience in a customer service environment.
