SUMMARY:
Millwright
POSITION INFO:
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
The main purpose of this position is to maintain, repair and perform preventative maintenance on machines and equipment in the Factory and on site, as well as build and configure new and old machinery.
RESPONSIBLITIES
• Primary function is to ensure that there is not mechanical restriction, which may reduce efficiency or quality within the Factory
• Adhering to maintenance plan and carrying out excellent preventative maintenance practises on machinery
• Ensuring timing of machines set-up according to required manufacture standards
• General maintenance such as: alignment of chains, spokes and needles; repair of trig plates and guide bars; greasing of beams and replacing thereof, when necessary, repair roller coverings, major breakdown repairs, welding and building/machining spares that are easily replaceable in-house as to prevent unnecessary downtime. All this on Film mono Extruders, Beaming lines, Knitting Machines, Stenter, Inspection frames and general facilities maintenance, as well as use of milling machine and lathe if possible.
• Assist with electrical breakdown and re-wiring of panels when required
• Assisting in implementing HSE practises, such as preventing nip points and covering of open gears, panels or chains
• Assisting with training of shift Mechanics and stand in or be on standby from time to time or when needed
• Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing machines, which include but are not limited to: identifying issues, running tests, ordering and installing parts and do temporary repairs to keep machines working while waiting for parts
• Maintain and update maintenance logs on machines
• Any other reasonable request in line with job requirements or company requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• National Senior Certificate.
• Minimum of 5 - 8 years relevant experience as Millwright in a Manufacturing environment.
• Apprenticeship as Millwright with recognized Institution (Red seal).
• Computer software skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook.

• Strong knowledge and understanding of industrial machine components,
• Strong level of accuracy, attention to detail and analytical.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a broader team.
• Ability to handle stress in a high pressurized production environment.
• Must be reliable, organised and have a positive attitude.
• Possess good problem-solving skills.
• Willing to work overtime and be available after hours and weekends to manage unforeseen circumstances.
