SUMMARY:
A well- established FMCG (Fresh Food) company based in Boksburg is seeking a Millwright to safely execute Mechanical and Electrical maintenance activities.

POSITION INFO:

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESH:

• Apply health, safety, security and housekeeping in your work environment
• Comply to Legislation as set out in the OSH Act and to organisational standards
• Address workplace hazards and risks
• Within scope of authority of the role, carry out all the employers lawful orders in the interest of health and safety, and  report any unsafe acts or conditions

Quality and Food safety:

• Comply to Legislation as set out in the Foodstuffs Disinfectants and Cosmetics Act and all other relevant Food legislation, regulations and organisational standards
• Comply with requirements of the Engineering Quality Management System
• Apply and continuously improve procedures within internal environment
• Comply with requirements of the Integrated Management System
• Refer to Food Safety Responsibilities and Authorities – Document reference 7.11.6.1

Finance:

• Protect company assets (working capital & fixed assets)
• Minimise waste and rework

CUSTOMERS:

Customer Relations:

• Interact with internal customers

Provide sufficient feedback on issues addressed to relevant stakeholders such as the Engineering and Production teams pertaining to but not limited to roots causes of problems, actions taken, improvements made  and additional work to be conducted

Supplier Relations:

• Interact with internal suppliers
• Manage and supervise contracted staff and services related to skills and pertaining to the Engineering department.

PROCESS:

Reliability Engineering:

• Improve Operational Equipment Efficiencies (OEE)

Maintenance Planning:

• Close-out Work Orders on SAP
• File Work Order documentation
• Support the maintaining and improvement of the maintenance management system

Mechanical and Electrical Installations:

• Remove and replace mechanical systems and equipment:
  • pipe systems (thermoplastics, glass, etc.), static seals in machines and / or equipment, bearings in machines and equipment, direct drives, dynamic seals in machines and / or equipment, heat exchangers and pressure vessels, lubricating systems, pumps, fluid power / pneumatic systems, valves, safety valves, fans, compressors, motors and associated equipment
• Commission assemblies / machines 
• Assemble mechanical and electrical components
• Install / replace Low/Medium/High voltage equipment and hardware 
• Install and commission Single/Three Phase AC Machines and Control Gear 
• Install electric wire ways and luminaires 
• Wire and commission domestic electrical circuits 

Mechanical and Electrical Fault Finding and Repair:

• Provide technical input in solving processing problems
• Conduct fault finding and repair of all mechanical and electrical components, machines and equipment 
• Fault find, test and repair Domestic Appliances 
• Fault find on single and three phase alternating current (AC) systems and circuits
• Fault find direct current (DC) systems and circuits

Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance:

• Diagnose and repair faults on equipment and machinery during production/operation 
• Analyse and solve mechanical problems
• Refurbish/overhaul machines 
• Perform routine Maintenance: 
  • pipe systems, static seals in machines and / or equipment, bearings in machines and equipment, direct drives, dynamic seals in machines and / or equipment, heat exchangers and pressure vessels, lubricating systems, pumps, fluid power / pneumatic systems,  hydraulic systems, compressors
• Utilise and perform minor repair and Maintenance tasks on implements, equipment and infrastructure
• Conduct minor routine and breakdown Maintenance on equipment and machines
• Maintain electrical distribution boards, panels and enclosures 
• Repair and maintain electric power tools 
• Perform standby duties and attend to callouts with regards to mechanical and electrical breakdowns
• Oversee Maintenance contractors in area of responsibility

Electrical Construction:

• Wire three/single phase electrical circuits 

Electrical Inspections:

• Identify, inspect and clean electrical machines 
• Test and inspect three phase industrial/commercial installations 
• Test and inspect single phase domestic installations 

Electrical Maintenance:

• Maintain electrical distribution boards, panels and enclosures 
• Repair and maintain electric power tools 
• Attend to callouts with regards to electrical breakdowns

Electrical fault find and repair:

• Fault find, test and repair Domestic Appliances 
• Fault find on single phase alternating current (AC) systems 

Welding:

• Carry out basic gas welding, brazing and cutting in an electrical environment 
• Apply soldering techniques 

Projects:

• Work as a project team member and provide adequate knowledge related to field and skills

Skills:

Customer Service:

• Apply the basic skills of customer service

• Operating computer systems

• Operate and monitor a drilling machine to produce simple components

• Identify, inspect, use, maintain and care for engineering hand tools 
• Select, use and care for engineering measuring equipment 
• Select, use and care for engineering power tools 
• Select, use and care for electrical measuring instruments 
• Select, use and care for portable electrical equipment

Mobile Equipment:

• Shift loads using lifting equipment (Pallet Jack, hoists, etc.)
• Operate overhead/gantry cranes

Report Writing:

• Process data using information technology

Knowledge:

ESH:

• Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic Health, Safety and Environmental principles in and around a workplace (PPE requirements, Housekeeping standards, etc.)

Minimum Requirements:

• National Diploma Mechanical Engineering
• Recognised Trade Test (Millwright)
• 3-5 years relevant experience in a related role within a processing or manufacturing environment.
