Responsibilities

  • Perform preparation of reagents, materials, and equipment used in microbiological testing.
    Perform microbiological testing on water samples, in-process product samples (tanks, dynamic milk, bulk cream bins.), raw materials (farmers, etc.), expired product and environmental monitoring (EM) samples (swabs, air control plates, water, etc.) as scheduled and ad-hoc as directed by the QA Manager, FSS Manager.
  • Perform other e.g. chemical testing, sensory, etc. on final products and raw materials.
  • Count colony forming units (CFU) on plates. Escalate pathogens immediately.
  • Review test results against specification and ensure that product that is not in the specification shall leave the factory.
  • Ensure product undergoes the second examination
  • Compile and enter data into daily result books and or computer databases to be used for reporting and trending purposes.
  • Will share general responsibilities for laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration, housekeeping, and other lab support functions (e.g., inventory of consumables and reagents).
  • Maintain instrument and equipment cleaning, functioning, etc. so that they are continuously in good working order.
  • Maintain Instrument Usage and Calibration Logs based on instrument usage during the preparation and testing of samples.
  • Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment
  • Maintain sample logs on a daily basis to ensure timely testing and tracking of all samples.
  • Strict adherence to procedures and practices according to the FSSC 22 000 and ISO 17025 standards.
  • Strong emphasis on documentation according to FSSC 22 000 and ISO 17025 standards.
  • Adhere to departmental safety policies.
  • Do routine factory inspections i.e. GMP, PRP, and Risk-based evaluations according to the FSSC 22 000 standards.
  • Perform laboratory tasks as allocated to ensure operation functioning of the laboratory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor''s degree/Diploma in microbiology, chemistry, biology, biotechnology, or a related field.
  • 3 years experience as a microbiologist or experience in a testing laboratory
  • 4 years experience in a Food Manufacturing environment
