Microbiologist

POSITION INFO:

Main purpose of the job:

• To Provide testing service to production by performing all microbiological tests on the final products. In-process QC monitoring of samples and in the factory to monitor compliance with food safety, environmental hygiene and sanitation standards
Prefered Minimum Requirements:
• Preferably Matric (Gr. 12)
• BSc Chemistry or Bio Chemistry or Microbiology or Food Science or ND in Food Technology or equivalent qaulification
Knowledge:
• ISO, HACCP, GMP, Food Technology.
• World class manufacturing and quality practices and models.
• Specific product and process knowledge.
• Testing methods and tools used in micro testing.
• Problem solving tools
• Audit practices and principals
• Knowledge of SANAS Practice & Principals
• Maintaining occupational health, safety and environmental legislation relevant to the food manufacturing industry
• Problem solving techniques
• Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures in the food manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of the effect of micro orginisms on personal health, hygiene and food safety
• Monitor quality control practice in a food manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of aseptiv sampling methods

Skills:

• Ability to maintain quality management and quality control systems
• Ability to carry out aseptic sampling tests in line with best practices
• Analytical thinking
• Ability to pay attention to detail
