SUMMARY:
Opportunity available!! Our client in the Automotive sector is seeking to employ a Metrologist to join their team in East London.

POSITION INFO:

Job Description

· Dimensional evaluation of in-house and bought-out components and assemblies in accordance with the relevant drawings.

· Layout inspection of components to full drawing requirements.

· Review of out of specification criteria and suggestion of countermeasure proposals together with the project / quality engineers.

· Responsible for the accuracy of recorded measurement data.

· Accurate record keeping and filing of original marked up drawings and dimensional reports.

· Accurate numbering of drawings for the ISIR and MDR reports.

· Form part of new project development teams.

· Development of measurement methods for individual components

· The timeous and accurate completion of ISIR, MDR and layout inspection reports.

· The management of the component assessments in line with the approved project timing plans

· Accountable for accuracy of the dimensional data recorded on ISIR’S / MDR’S.

 

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

· National Technical Diploma (N6/S3 or S4)

· National Technical Certificate or qualified Artisan or Metrologist.

· Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of GDNT Tolerancing.

· 5 Years Metrology & CMM experience in an Automotive Component Manufacturing environment.

· 5 years CMM programming experience in an Automotive Component Manufacturing environment.

· Comprehensive knowledge/experience of Polyworks software for CMM measurement/scanning.

· Comprehensive knowledge/experience of PC DMIS software for CMM measurement/scanning.

· Comprehensive knowledge/experience of COSMOS software for CMM measurement.

· 5 years’ experience using all surface table and handheld measuring instruments.

Competencies Required

· Good measuring skills and reporting practise.

· Attention to detail.

· Good filing and document control skills.

· Ability to read technical drawings.

· Strong leadership and Decision making abilities coupled with inter-personal motivational and continuous improvement attributes.
