Metallurgist

SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a highly-skilled, capable and intuitive team player who will take responsibility for the delivery of high-quality foundry products for the manufacturing process.

POSITION INFO:

You will be required to monitor and control the metallurgical properties of non-ferrous metals used in the Foundry and set up and manage the laboratory at the company.

Qualifications:

• Matric with University entrance, maths and science
• Essential to have a BTech (Metallurgy)

Essential Skills and Experience:

• In-depth knowledge of metal behaviour and its alloys
• Chemical analysis
• Setting up and running a laboratory
• Manufacturing experience
• System development and implementation
• Dexterity in technical ability and knowledge
• Adept in analytical and problem-solving

Key Result Areas:

• Implementation of ISO 9001 QA system in the Foundry
• Setting up and management of the laboratory.
• Process planning and raw material categorisation and utilisation.
• Process control
• Monitor and control the metallurgical properties of non-ferrous metals used in Foundry
• Daily chemical analysis of the strength and performance of materials being processed
• Verbal and written feedback to the management of status
• Root cause analysis of production failures
• Adherence to all company and departmental specific safety protocols
