Mechanical Project Engineer

Key responsibilities will include:

• Conceptualise, determine feasibility and implement new equipment and improvement projects and problem solve large and complex mechanical maintenance related problems
• Conduct Feasibility Studies make recommendations, including return on investment calculations and implement approved projects.
• Engineer, Cost, Procure, Manage and Implement Capital Projects relating to a wide range of technologies and applications utilising suitable companies with a focus on civil, structural and mechanical disciplines
• Feasibilities: Define the problem, identify possible solutions, analyse the technology, evaluate the options and make recommendations
• Project Implementation:
• Project and scope specification
• compile enquiry, conduct site visit and adjudicate bids
• Clarification meetings
• Place orders and compile contracts
• Project Implementation and Contract Management
• Legal compliance
• Commissioning and performance testing
• Documentation and close out

The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

• BEng / BTech in Mechanical Engineering
• 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing industry: furnaces, hot and cold rolling and other heavy engineering industries
• 5 years’ experience in a project engineering and management position in a manufacturing / consulting industry
• Legal compliance training and experience in terms of the OSHACT
• Management / Project management qualification (Advantageous)
• Computer literate
