Mechanical Fire Technician

SUMMARY:
A great consulting firm is seeking a Fire Engineer that will be responsible to consult on fire prevention, protection, life safety engineering issue and consult on fire safety. You will have the opportunity to work on local and international projects whilst enjoying a great competitive salary and working with a diverse company.

POSITION INFO:

Design fire detection, sprinkler systems, gas suppression, smoke control systems, etc

Developing fire safety plans for evacuation

Project management and consulting for fire safety as well as fire system design

Write reports for rational fire design

Develop firefighting equipment, fire rated construction, escape widths etc.

Prepare tender documentation and specifications for fire protection systems

Do fee proposals

Conduct technical designs

Site inspections on weekly basis

Client liaison

Meetings with authorities, discussing all safety regulations for projects that need to be completed timeously

Skills & Experience:

Experience with the local fire safety codes, SANS 10400, ASIB, SANS 10139, etc

Knowledge and experience in other international codes and standards, BS 9999, NFPA 101, BS 7974, IFEG, etc

Experience withing consulting industry (fire)

Must be able to solve problems

Time Management skills

CAD skills, Pathfinder, Canute and other similar software packages would be good to have

Minimum of 3 – 6 years experience in Fire Engineering

Qualification:

BSc/BEng/BTech/NDip in Mechanical Engineering

Professional Registration is an advantage or must be registered as a candidate with ECSA already

Drivers License

Travelling nationally and internationally

Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
