SUMMARY:
Mechanical Engineer

POSITION INFO:

Mechanical Engineer that will be based in Johannesburg, travelling throughout South Africa and Southern Africa to interface with primarily power generation industry customers, and spec solutions from a range of extensive product refurbishment services including thermal spray coatings, cladding.

  • Male, aged 27-36 years
  • Own Transport
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Previous work experience at Eskom
  • Experience in general manufacturing and maintenance
  • Engineering workshop, machining and grinding experience
  • Experience working with ISO 9001 quality management system
  • Basic CAD experience
  • Microsoft Office
  • Be able to use all mechanical measuring equipment
  • Understand and interpret technical drawings
  • Understanding of basic welding processes
  • Must work well under pressure, keep to deadlines and be willing to work extended hours from time to time to meet deadlines
  • Be able to travel on short notice, throughout the country, Southern Africa, and Zambia
  • Knowledge and experience in surface engineering and coatings (preferable)
  • Understanding of Breakdowns in the power generation industry
  • Exposure to sales processes beneficial

Job specification:

  • Mechanical Engineer reports directly to the Engineering Support Manager
  • Mechanical engineer needs to be able to operate largely independently.
  • Mechanical engineer must be able to liaise with customers, specify solutions and quote.
  • Prepare quotes, within 24 hours of receiving the enquiry, in the company format.
  • Negotiate tenders, contract terms and conditions to meet client and company needs.
  • Give timeous and proper feedback to customers on delivery dates etc.
